Default Just Confirmed My First Volvo

Been ummming and rrrrrring for months over the next choice of vehicle.

Finally took the plunge on Tuesday and picked one from about 12 models the dealer had offered that could be delivered within a month.

XC60 2.4 D5 215ps R-Design Lux Nav Geartronic
Its a 2014.5 model year so from my research the latest version, some we were offered were model year 14.

Inscription Electric silver metallic paint
Off Black leather
20" Ixion alloys
Dark tinted glass
Front and Rear park assist
Gearshift paddles
Heated steering wheel
Winter Illumination pack.
Integrated running boards

It wasn't our first choice colour, Passion Red, Ice White, Saville Grey and Black sapphire were all ahead, but having now seen the electric silver its growing on me.
The spec is bang on for what we wanted bar a sunroof, which was on the list of nice to haves, not an essential.

But the car we plucked was the nearest to what we wanted without the wait of a factory order.

The car is at another dealers in the UK about 200 miles away and is being collected today, picked the registration number yesterday, so hopefully 7 to 10 days time it should be ready to be collected.

Can't wait.

Just got to sort out a load liner / protector and a grill to keep the dog in the boot.
Not sure if to go Volvo or third party for those bits.

Congrats on the order!

Could you let me know what you decide on the dog/boot issue as that is something I've still to face.

thanks

Try Barjo for a tailgate grill. We had one for a V70 years ago, worked well but p/x'd it for a cage with Barjo

Enjoy, that's a nice spec, nice car and a lovely engine. You'll engine the 215 horses under the bonnet, for sure!

I test drove that spec of car from Cleland Volvo back in November 2013, MY14. A beauty. You'll love it.

My pleasure......it's all true, the car's a gem. Cleland Volvo actually have one of their two R-design XC60s on Autotrader right now. It's the chipped Polestar one which takes the bhp from 215 to 230. But the one I drove hadn't been chipped and was the standard 215bhp with the geartonic autobox and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

I decided to go for the new VEA 181bhp engine because we mount winter tyres and so we don't think we need AWD. Time will tell. In FWD the VEA unit is almost identical to the AWD D5 for acceleration as it's 10% lighter due to the smaller engine size and simpler drive system.

If it's pure pleasure you're after (well, in a diesel that is) then I genuinely think the D5 AWD 215bhp is indulgent and lovely. You'll get that five cylinder sound too.

Stay patient and it'll be with you in no time at all
