Default Misting and exhaust fumes

Recently my car has started getting fumes into the car, when following older diesels for instance, and quite heavily misting up when parked occasionally. The carpets seem to be dry. Any ideas? I’m wondering if the cabin filter might not have been replaced correctly at the last service…..

Are you running in eco mode, this reduces climate control and can cause window misting.

Yeah as my wife will agree, I don’t run in eco mode.😃. I think it’s only been happening since my last service. It doesn’t happen when running, only when it’s been parked up. The smell coming in is curious too.

Check the pollen filter. They can be installed wrong, as in the air flow direction is pointing in the wrong direction. Or, they could have put a cheap filter in and not a carbon charcoal one. Cheaper filters are usually a bright white when new, carbon filters are a darker grey when new and are more expensive.

Window misting can also be the result of running with the air internal recirculation selected, but that wouldn't accord with external fumes being present.

Yeah not in Recirculation setting. Will check the pollen filter tomorrow.

On cars with IAQS, you can see if conditions for good air quality are met:

And, remember that in cold conditions the A/C turns off and the gathered ice fills the cabin with steam.
