Default 1968 Amazon estate for sale

I bought this car on eBay a couple of months ago. I'd like to keep her as a daily runabout and surf wagon, but am moving to a smaller place in just a few weeks and we won't have room her.

Since I bought her we have swapped in a reliable B18 motor, replaced the faulty dynamo and replaced the worn out clutch with another with plenty of life in it.

The MoT runs out July 14th and I don't forsee any problems. She starts first time every time, and pulls strongly and cleanly. The brakes and the non-overdrive gearbox are fine. She has two fibreglass front wings which means no more rust problems in that area though they might offend the purist. Many of the other panels have been bitten by the rust bug, but none are terminal. One rear window winder is faulty, and there's a chip in the front screen, and that's about it.

I had no problems on the last major run, over 500 miles, apart from with the old dynamo.

Having seen up close how good she is, and that her problems are bodily, but not severe, I figure she might be worth £2,150 to someone who wants a reliable fun car that can be used daily, and isn't looking for a shiny show queen !

She does have to go though, so my price is just a starting point, and I am open to offers.

More images can be seen here:

All the best, Jonathan.

Thanks, I'd be very happy if she finds a good home.

Hi John,

Would love to know more. I have cash waiting for something just like this, but I'm unable to PM you as I've not posted 30+ messages yet (I'm new to these Volvos, having just bought an 850 Estate - but I've always wanted an Amazon!) While I wait for my post count to be officially 'upped' could you do me a favour and drop me a quick line at: matt (at) matt-miles.com

I look forward to hearing from you...

Matt

The chap I bought it from lived in Bolton. He'd had it a couple of years. I don't have any docs to hand to see if it was further north before then.

Trying to think of other things that would need doing. The seal around the front window leaks in heavy rain, and I have a new seal to go with the car. There is a tear in the headlining, I will try and get a photo of that tonight.

Matt,

I cannot PM for too few posts, so will respond to you by email.

Cheers, Jonathan.

I've just added a ton of new images that show details of the sills, rear wheel arches, floors, headlining, and any problem areas.

I did discover that the headling has no tears in it whatsoever... I must be going mad !
