Default Barn Find 122S

Up for sale is a 122S , which while it probably could be restored is more realistically a parts mine. It will not run , and we suspect that it has dropped a valve.

However the desirable parts it is equipped with include :

- Overdrive gearbox complete with proper switch and dash warning light ( I don't think that it is a factory overdrive car )

- Recaro adjustable reclining mechanisms on front seats.

- Twin SUs with late one piece twin downpipe manifold.

- Decent front and rear bumpers and overriders ( But not perfect)

- Lockheed servo

- Period radio with roof aerial

- Exceptionally good steering wheel.

- Useable but not perfect Oxblood interior.

- Rear seat belts

- Webasto sun roof , complete with interior wind deflector.

I have had a look at the shell and it needs floors, outriggers, probably cills, and doors. Surprisingly the front wing mounts look original and good.
The bonnet is rusty beyond repair. The front wings and front panel are rusty but probably could be fixed.

Looking at the extensive history with the car, it was fitted with a new clutch and exchange dynamo in 2004, it was taken off the road c.2008.

The car is in North London, near the M1 Jct 2 . Obviously it needs to be trailered away.

I will not break the vehicle for spares it is only for sale as a whole. £1250.

PM me if you want further info.

I looked at this car Sunday morning; Mark is a friend of mine so we had a bit of a gander. He bought it to rebuild another car he has but loss of storage means it needs to be moved. I have driven this car albeit a ong time ago, There are some really nice parts on it. Someone spent a lot of money on the wrong body shell. Even stuff like the trim stripes are really good, I reckon the doors are rebuildable.

All the right bits to turn a 121 into an overdrive 122S in one convenient package.

It is restorable, Mark has the history to the car and a current V5 in his name. Worse cars than this are being restored.

I'd still be inclined to break it though. There is just such an enormous collection of parts there in one easy convenient package. So far we've resisted the temptation to cherry pick the nicest bits. If I find a nice 121 estate shell in the next few weeks this car is for the chop

Sadly it would be a major job to restore especialy fixing the big hole in the roof!

Hope it does go to a good home/saves other amazons.

if it saves a estate im happy with that 4 doors are more common yet never demand the money as the 2 doors or the estates do and i totally agree with dai that big old hole in roof with the leaky type sunroof is a major downside to car but still im sure it will be a great help to someone

That's quite the sun-roof! I've never seen one before. How would that ship to Canada?
