Reluctantly having to sell my Amazon.
I’m in the sorry position of having to sell my Volvo Amazon, and I don’t know where to begin. Emergency brain surgery in 2021 and ongoing problems with epilepsy mean that I’m not going to be allowed to drive for at least another year. I start the car regularly but don’t want it to sit in the garage gathering dust for another 12 months.
A local friend and member of the VOC (Paul Till) was going to propose me for membership but sadly I read his obituary on this forum a while ago. Is there anyone else in the East Surrey area who could give me an honest appraisal of what my Amazon might be worth please? It’s a 1970 2-door Amazon, dark green with tan interior. It’s clearly had a bit of a mixed life in that although it’s registered as a 131 it’s fitted with a B20B engine at the moment, albeit with only a single carburettor. I also have a Weber carb and manifold that the car came with but I could never get it running well so I switched to a single Stromberg. It drives well and benefits from overdrive. Cosmetically the car is good, with any minor issue having been sorted out properly at a local body-shop. The interior is equally good with new foam in the front seats and new webbing straps underneath them. It has a period radio with an aux input that can play music from a mobile phone. The headlining looks pristine. Externally, I’ve fitted a period tow-bar and towing electrics. The bumpers aren’t perfect but look respectable. To my mind it looks a lot better than some of the Amazons currently on eBay but I’d greatly appreciate the opinion of an expert! |

Photos attached - apologies for the rotated pictures - they were the right way round on my computer!
I've had a few replies on here, and spoken to a few people off-line. In the light of what they have said, I've decided to set the price at £13,000 but I'm open to negotiation. The car also comes with a boot-full of spares including inlet and exhaust manifolds, Weber and Stromberg carburettors, fibre timing gears, spare lamp lenses, etc. Last edited by HRA; Aug 22nd, 2023 at 12:14. |
