First post to say hello.
Greetings from Maine, USA. We have 2 V70's in household, both 98's. My wife drives a XC and I drive an AWD. The winters are brutal and we get lots of snow so the 4 wheel drive comes in handy.
I'm looking now for a late model diesel Volvo (80's to 90's) to convert to run on veggie oil. Gasoline is about $3 a gallon now and the used veggie oil is free from your local McDonalds or Burger King. The problem is that diesel Volvo's aren't available in the US, so I'd have bring one over. I've seen some nice 850/V70/S70's on eBay with manual tranny (rare in US) and right hand drive (even rarer!). I haven't noticed any posts about SVO or WVO conversions. Is it done in the UK? Well, gotta go now, the dogs need to go out. Bye. Bob |

Welcome
With regards to the cars, you americans have it easy with $3 a gallon. thats what, 40p a litre? try just over $7 a gallon here! with regards to running a diesel on veg oil, i dunno about the USA but you have to declare it to customs, so although its slightly cheaper to run an old diesel on veg oil, its a lot of hassle because you cant just chuck the used oil in the tank.
