Default How To Replace The Electrical Portion Of The Ignition Barrel

The electrical switch is a common cause of problems, common issues are ABS/Tracs light staying on, headlights refusing to work, indicator non functioning, speedo failure and general looseness in security, especially at pos II in the barrel.....
Replacement is a basic DIY requiring part # 9447803....
Initially the barrel shroud will need to be removed....
Release the adjuster brake and pull the wheel as far out and up as possable....
Two torx' are needed 25T and 15T....A standard extension will not fit up the column to remover the 15T screws so you will need to buy either a long 15T or do as i did, weld a 15T to the end of a endless thread....

With the screws removed the top shroud can be removed and the bottom can then be negotiated over the ignition barrel and removed showing the electrical portion plastic plug...

Remove the plastic encased electrical plug by pulling strongly....

Remove the elecrtical portion release screws....

And remove the electrial portion...

Replace with new part....

Refiting is the reverse of removal...., ensuring the top shroud securing clips clamp securelt to the bottom shroud....
Notice how the key movement is far more "certain".....
cheers
