Default preventative maintenance??

I have a 2015MY V70 D5 manual. In normal driving it rarely exceeds 2000RPM, due to torque and 2k equals almost 80mph in 6th. In 18 months it has run 15000 mile and according to the computer returned an Ave of 46.8mpg.
I read with concern about the black crud that accumulates within the engine, which I think would be more likely given the "low reving " life my engine has.
It would be easy to sit at say 4000RPM for say n miles ( n being anything from 5-50 miles say) if it was thought that this would be benifitial in keeping the internals clean.
I try not to use "supermarket fuel" usually its Esso or Shell, occasionally JET.

any comments??

As a separate items, I have never noticed a DPF regen cycle. Anyone know how long they last for, and can they be triggered by a driving style.

An 'Italian tune up' won't do any harm. When fully warmed up, give it a blast in the lower gears to the red line. Often found giving a car a bit of a sensible blast now and again seems to help.

I run a much older car too, a 1982 Ford Granada 2.8, which generally just potters around, but a good blast really seems to liven it up.

I would not worry about accumulation of anything. Using decent fuel and having the car services properly will mean there is no issue.

DPF regen will occur every 500 miles or so, and can last 20 minutes or so. If the cycle does not get time to complete then the next one will be sooner.

Dpf regens are triggered by a pressure differential across the filter - when the pressure differential is above a threshold, and the engine is sufficiently warmed up, the regen will trigger. A driving style that creates more soot (lots of hard acceleration) will fill the filter quicker. Lots of low rpm motorway cruising will fill it slow.

That is good to know -
I intend this car as all my others to be "keepers" - looking for 150K+ and I saw in the P2 section about the state that internal pipes/throttle bodies become crudded up. Hence looking for preventative maintenance...

The "crud" would be from the oil, rather than the fuel. Just use the correct oil and filters and get it serviced when needed. Diesels do need to avoid short journeys to ensure the dpf gets hot enough to burn off the particles. But I read recently that the dpf doesn't trap them until the ambient temperature is above 18C!
There is a long discussion on oil in another section. But with the newer models just stick to the recommendations.
I'm considering extending my volvo warranty when the three years are up.
Is it worth it?

re extended warranty Ive had 3 Volvo v70, all ran extended warranty til the cars 5th year. In each case they were worth the money. the fisrt was an V70 P1 with Audi TDI - snapped cam belt took turbo and diesel pump. Volvo paid.
V70 T5 several minor bits and pieces, just about covered warranty cost.
V70 AWD R - saved me THOUSANDS. -Volvo paid

Don't know enough about P3 to comment
