Here is a couple of photos of comparision hose clamps, or there would be!!!

Apologies for the delay, I'm having problems downloading the photos at this moment. It can't have anything to do with the fact that I've only made 2 posts to date can it?

I was just under the car and spotted some other rusting clips. Probs not as important as the one in the thread but still worth a look the next time its on a ramp. The offending clips are at the back of the car on the passenger side (n/s) and they seem to be attached to the petrol tank. Take a look at the pics of mine, they are in a pretty bad state. I've put some grease on them, hopefully that will do till I find the parts to replace them.

Happy hunting.

Default stainless steel

replacement stainless steel jubilee clips are not much more than zinc plated ones, and can be obtained from a ships chandler or marine shop.

This is my finding...

The original electroplated clamps on my 2004 1.6 V40 are just over 12mm wide and 32-44 dia.

Ones bought from the nearest Volvo dealers Part No.988028 are just over 8mm wide and 30-45 dia.

The Jubilee S/S clamps are 13mm wide, size 2A which are 35-50 dia.

So in view of the "imprint" on the hose, I fitted the Jubilee branded clamps... I'm not sure whether I've done the right thing, but time will tell. There are smaller diameter sizes available from the Jubilee range, such as 1M 32-45mm.

Thanks for the warning - I drive a couple of hundred Kms round trip for work each day and luckily the hose clamps are looking tidy.
Thanks for looking out for the rest of us!

Had a go this afternoon trying to get the original rusted-to-hell clip off....but with no success. Soaked it in WD40, tried to get a hacksaw through it, cannot turn the screw for the life of me. Has anybody got any suggestions for another attempt tomorrow. Short of trying to heat it up, I'm not sure what else to try

Bobzilla, have you got them off as yet? If not, you could try to get a pair of pliers at 90 degrees to the screw fitting and lever the foot up. If you look at the "fitted" ones the banding has 4 tags "crimped" (swaged tabs) through the screw housing, that's 2 either side of the screw.

Alternative.... you could file the screw housing off by fileing the "crimps" (swaged tabs) off. You may only have file 2 of the 4 off, suck it and see.

If you've already removed em' tell us how, as a few may have similar problems.
