Default T4 2002 Engine Oil recommendations

Hello

I am relatively new to this forum.

I know that everyone has their own preferences on engine oils, but what oil do people recommend for a V40 T4?

I've seen reference to Shell Helix Ultra 0w40 but cannot now find the thread!

What do people use?

thank you
Martin

Hi, good question

I also have a T4 and wouldn't use anything substandard at all for it

I use Shell Ultra Helix 5W50 and its great product and well priced too.

you can get a 5 litre bottle for about £18 with some shopping around

A3/B4 5W40 synthetic here. A3/B4 is what the manual recommends and the cold viscosity depends on the climate you live in. A bit higher hot viscosity is probably preferable for an old engine.

Any of the major brand full synthetic 0 or 5w40 oils that have the Acea A3/B4 spec. Just check the oil finder or guide page of their web site for a list of oils, fluids and figures.

Shell Helix 5w40 seems to be the best value for money oil at present.

The only oil filters I trust are Volvo (From Skandix or a real Volvo dealer), Bosch (From a Bosch service center) or Mann (Made in Germany only).
