Hi everyone!

Can someone please explain this for me? - Before taking the old girl in for some new brake discs I thought I'll give her a bit of a clean out and was putting some bits in to the boot and for some reason I had to lean in, anyway on my way out and for some reason I looked up and found this plug! (had the old girl for about 9 or 10 years) never seen this plug before so never played around with it. As you can see from the photo it looks like its still got the original Volvo tag keeping it in place. Can anyone shed some light on this please? The only thing I can add to this mystery is she never had a phone installed when I got her, she was an ex-hire car with only 8k on the clock.

Should keep you going for a few hours unless someone knows the answer!
thanks everyone

Martin..

btw.. For some reason the photo is upside down - sorry about that!

Is yours an S40?

I can't quite orientate the photo to what I can see in the boot of my V40.

I have a Sub in the boot and I think an extra amp to beef up the speaker system (all though you'd hardly notice).

The wire is probably for the optional extra amp or it could be for a cd changer as already mentioned.

I think mine was upgraded with the extra amp and it seems that some extra wiring was added and a different connection was required for the sub as there is some redundant cabling and connectors tied back in various places.

The black cable you have there looks like one of the cables that was added to mine.

It's the cd changer connector. It's prewired in ALL phase 2 S40s

It's S40 2004, tell you one thing the radio has never worked since the day I got her (no big heartache since I'v always have the CD on) it's never picked up any radio stations saying that when I was driving home from work one night I nearly Cr** myself when the Traffic news came on over the top of the current CD i was bobbing to!

The radio functions are linked to the antenna, so either a poor connection/connector undone or the antenna unit is in need of replacing.
