Its a kind of a navy blue. Looks very well with the chrome. I do think its the original colour (although not the original paint at least on some parts) but I don't have the code to hand right now. Call it dark blue....

Fran
EDIT: here is a link to a 140 that is the same colour:

At a guess the paint code is 96.

Here is a new data point to add to this topic:

The rubber bobbin engine mounts from an 8-valve 740 go straight onto the 164 if you cut the locating pins off.

I don't know about the fancy hydraulicy ones but I have half an idea they too would fit.

(My engine mounts came apart the other day and resulted in the carburettor heat shield catching on the steering column rubber disc joint and making the steering almost impossible to turn. I had to drive 60 miles with a block of wood wedged between the steering box and the exhaust manifold to get home and collect the replacement mounts. By modifying 740 mounts I was able to get the car back in order the day after the incident instead of waiting ages for 164 parts to be ordered.)

Hello there,

I have posted an ad in the parts for sale section but just stumbled across this thread and i have a complete 164E here for breaking, dreaded tinworm! Anyway it has had a lot of work done to it, and a lot of new parts that seem to be quite rare, it has a stainless steel exhaust in perfect order, recon auto box with new fittings for oil cooler, new alternator, breaks are perfect and it starts and runs on the button. Oh and a perfect set of fogs! But i might be keeping the front for a 240 project..

Any interest please pm me or reply on here,

Cheers
Ben
