Default V90 rear light replacement (main unit)

Today, I had the joy of getting a rear light malfunction warning on my 2017 V90.

Sure enough, the near side rear light isn't working.

On close inspection there is moisture in the light, but I also found a few very minor cracks on the upper part of the light, so not a hope of any Volvo contribution.

No idea how the light got cracked up high, but the light will need replacing.

I'm happy enough with the bumper removal, but there looks to be a decent amount trim to remove inside too to access screws.

Has anyone tried this themselves before ?

Thanks.

You might find these two threads helpful.

Just realised one of those links is for the smaller horizontal unit, so may not be too useful.

Thanks, the XC60 link is interesting, I had never considered stress fractures, but the cracks on mine are mich smaller and at glass level rather than bumper level.

Attached a couple of pics. Shows the random cracks and moisture at the top of the cluster. Not convinced this amount of moisture would work it's way upwards...

Default V90 outer position light unit nearside

Help!
Just replaced the outer taillight unit on a 2018 V90 R. What a pain that was! Brand new volvo part fitted. Still not working.
The old one was full of water and was on its way out for a while, I did notice before I replaced it that the small unit on the tailgate was out as well.
Took some advice from the local volvo specialist who said that 99% of the time the problem is water in the main unit.
So did replace but still nothing on both units. Am I missing something? No fuse listed in the manual.
Does the controller need to be flashed / dated after fitting?
Any help appreciated.
