Horn spring for early 1800 steering wheel
I'm fitting an early steering wheel to my 1971 1800E and have the central horn boss, but need the early model horn spring that fits in the top of the steering column. Has a short wire on it that goes inside the column.

I have a few of those horn contacts, the special washer/collar and the springs if you can't find one over there.

Hi Keith,
I fitted the 2 spoked 1800 wheel into my late Amazon. The BMC unit has a rubber unit which fits down the steering column top.It has an integral spring and brass top contact.I maybe had to trim the rubber slightly and make minor mods.Simply crimp connect the unit onto your existing wire.Mine has been fitted for 2 years and never failed.Give Keith at Doncaster a ring,he has a breakers yard dealing in mostly classic cars.He will not have any Volvos in though.!!! He is fair with his pricing. These units are on Westminsters, oxfords A60 Cambridge etc. best wishes, Chris. |

See the attached photo of what I can offer. It would be easy to ship across the pond. I'm thinking $16 for it airmailed to the UK.
Let me know. Thanks Chris |

No to the Lucas one. If you at Chris's picture you'll see a metal ferrule at the left. This seats into the top of the hollow steering shaft and acts as a stop for the spring. This enables the contact to stay touching the horn plate on the steering wheel.
