Default Water In Rear Floorboards

I own a 2006 240SE with a sunroof and have been noticing wet rear floorboards sometimes when it rains hard. Today is the worst yet, the floorboards and mats were soggy sopping wet. I was parked on a flat level surface. I would appreciate any info on why this is happening and how to fix it!!!

The last 240 was a 1993.

If you do have a 240, check the sunroof drain tubes, and things like the bonnet release cable where it passes through into the engine bay

sill drain holes too. If those are blocked then your sills will fill with water and that'll flow inside the car.

Thanks! I had thought about the sunroof drain possibly causing the problem, but my front floorboards are dry. Just the back floorboards are sopping wet.

Push the front seats back, remove the plastic sill trim and lift the front carpet to give you a better idea. There is a metal plate in the front footwell next to the sill, lift this out and have a look under this, water can travel under this to the rear footwell , and not be so evident in the front. Pour a watering can down the screen and rails and have a look. Favourite is often the bonnet pull where if passes through the bulkhead. Good Luck.

^^^^^Yes quite possibly letting by through the rubber gromit for the bonnet release cable. That's where mine was.

Have a look at this thread , go from post #13 .

I've got this problem - but it was most likely because I left the windows open for a couple of years with the car kept in a leaky carport. (I didn't realise it was leaking before anyone asks).

If water was getting in the bonnet release hole would it spread to the passenger side?

^^^^^^. Not sure if it would get to passenger side, but maybe if it was 'full' in those 'traps' (like under that plate in drivers foot well & driven so it could swill over?
Though look at the link I posted earlier. I had a wet passenger side after sealing the bonnet release point.
Turned out to be blocked drain channels..............
