XC90 active bi-xenons
Hello,
Could you please tell me if it is possible to fit active bi-xenons instead of standard xenon headlights? I know that I need an extra HCM (headlight control module) box which is under one of the seats. 1. Under which seat is HCM box? 2. Can I fit a second hand box? 3. Does the CEM needs an update? 4. Is there a harness for the HCM box already? That's for 2007 model Thank you |

1. Under passenger seat.
2. It depends who does the installation. Dealer will obviously say no. The HCM box is universal to all xc90 versions and engine models. I got mine from D5 engine. 3. Yes, CEM needs an soft update and I am not entirely sure because I couldn't see but I think it also needs hardware change (some CEM soldering). 4 Yes the harness is already there - green connector. If you install just the HCM box without CEM change the lights will be turning when you move your steering wheel. However, when you try changing the headlight switch from 0 position to any other one you will get a message "headlight module service required" and the lights will move down to service mode - you have to switch the engine off and move the switch to 0 position and it will be fine again. This means that the main beam will be only flashing in 0 switch position. |

Hi,
I assume from your topic that you did upgrade from standard bi-xenons to active bi-xenons. I want to put into 2004 xc90 with xenons newer xenons with ABL and i would like to know what sort of modifications I need. I described it in more details here. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...71#post1580671 Anyway did you succeeded ? What modificationd did you do? Do you maybe have part number of this HCM ? The modification was successful but it didn't look like in the thread you gave the link to.
There was no soft modifications. There was some soldering work on CEM and I installed the HCM module - I don't remember the numbers on the unit though. I didn't do the soldering on the CEM and the person who did the soldering, is not sharing what of he did. I originally didn't want the lights to turn but I constantly got error messages on the dash that there was a problem with front lights and I couldn't switched on the dipped beam lights |
