Time for new tyres
I have a 2016 XC70D5 AWD geartronic, coming up 65,000 miles which needs new tyres. The ones on the front have done about 27,000 miles and the rears have never been replaced which is pretty impressive. Its on Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season which have been fine but a bit noisy
Do I get the same again or maybe try Michelin Cross Climate. As a not wealthy pensioner who drives like Miss Daisy tyre life is important. Before you ask I like the AWD because I tow a caravan and want to minimise the chances of being stuck on a muddy field Suggestions welcomed |

Michelin Cross Climates are very well liked on here as a well balanced, all seasons option. However - at £175+ per corner, they're not cheap.
If you have a look on the Camskill website (Oponeo seem uncompetitive at the moment) there are other options. I would look at these : https://www.camskill.co.uk/m141b0s89..._Noise%3A_70dB Have a similar Cooper tyre on my XC60, on my second set and got 37k from the first set (I do rotate my wheels every 10k miles or so) (they still had 4mm+ on when scrapped, but I had a unrepairable puncture so elected to replace all 4.) I think they're better in all respects that the Scorpions which is what the car came with from the factory.

Bought maxxis bravo a/t tyres, but I opted for 225/65 flavour. I got slightly higher ride height and combined with a lift kit, looks good.
As a road tyre they're quiet, but not the best grip. Then again the previous owner had el cheapo landsail ditchfinders on it. I find the car likes to understeer when being enthusiastic in corners. Then I realised I bought an XC, not an R. They're about average in the wet too, but fantastic on muddy grass, sand and the odd muddy track at the appropriate speed of not much to quite slow. I've not tried truly off roading them yet, but as a mid range white walled semi offroad tyre, they'll do. You can feel the predicable limit in the wet, obviously driving to conditions. Just my opinion. I never really get a chance to try the limit of pirelli or michelin. If we get snow, these bravo's should perform well. |

Cross Climate 2 is supposed to be the best all season compromise tyre these days.

I looked at the Falken AS10 ? , but dont seem to wear well, so I will be plumping for Michelin cross climate 2 as well. Great, consistent reviews. I will be going up a size tho, from 235/55 17 up to 235/60 17. A little more plumpness in the side wall.

Thanks for all suggestions, I went with Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS again, mainly because of the long life and much cheaper than Michelin

I got Cooper Discoverer All Season - 235/55 R17 from Camskill - £380 delivered.
I've been very impressed with them in all weathers and will definitely get more when they expire.
