RE: Servicing
You need to go by hours spent on service not just cost. Could be the 40k service took a lot longer to complete.

RE: Servicing
Yes, 40K includes spark plugs and air filter. Whether or not you're happy to pay a dealer £70 an hour to fit them is a different matter.

RE: Servicing
for a diesal?
Point accepted about '£70 an hour', nicely -unhappily- locked into the 12month warranty game for a year - which got the nocking suspension link rods replaced without quibble. Gray |

RE: Servicing
It really is down to individual dealerships. Labour rates vary from £50 to £110 per hour depending on location!! The other thing is some dealers just replace everything according to the servicing schedule whilst others check to see if it needs to be changed in the first place. My dealer is great because they follow the latter and actually check fluids etc to ensure they need to be renewed (certain things like spark plugs must be changed regardless). I usually get fluids like coolant, brake fluid etc changed at a trusted Volvo specialist once a year and I provide the dealer with the evidence that the change was carried out. They proceed to carry out their own tests that the fluids have not degraded and that's it. The regular once a year service is carried out by the dealer so that warranty etc is maintained and the money saved by the dealer not having to change certain items means I can change all the fluids in the car once a year (more regularly than Volvo recommend) to ensure the car is in tip-top condition.

RE: Servicing
Yes, missed the bit about it being a diesel. See the service schedule here: http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/~s80/s80_service.pdf

RE: Servicing
Hmmm! Always thought that a 2.5D was a diesel. You learn something new every day.

RE: Servicing
servicing reduction due to dealer 2 confusion over servicing schedule - seems i got a 3.1hr service for a 1.7h price (bank error in my favour) as it was a 2000 2.5D not a 98/99, however for the future i've been told the car should be using schedule part no. 97001084 @ Feb 2001
heres the service hours for a s80 2000 2.5D, in case this is use to anyone working out their labour charges. k hours 10 1.70 20 3.10 30 2.40 40 3.10 50 1.70 60 4.00 70 1.80 80 4.40 - cant wait for this one! |
