Default Oil Stains on Block Paving

Anyone have any advice or products to help remove evidence of engine oil on block paving?

It's fresh oil, caused by me during an oil change debacle on our little Twingo.

I've already dispensed at least 2 x 500ml cans of brake cleaner and worked in some neat APC on the patch with a stiff brush - which has helped a lot but there's still a stain bugging me.

There are proprietary cleaners that say they will do it. I have not tried them as I have a tarmac drive and they eat tarmac.

On surfaces such as paving slabs and concrete block paving I have used neat Traffic Film Remover followed by blasting with the pressure washer, repeating the process untill stain gone. Warning, TRF may affect the colour die in the paving, especially neat..

I have done similar, oh so careful, then kicked the bucket and stopped waste oil on the tarmac. Not helped by a 26 year old landrover which likes to mark it's territory. It will shortly cost me a new drive as her indoors is not a happy bunny with me over the mess I've made.

Boiling water with washing up liquid to bring the oil to the surface swiftly covered in Oil absorbing granules or cat litter but leave it as long as possible.

You could also flip the offending brick/block then jet wash it or swap it with one from a more discreet section of the drive.

That's cheating, but I like your thinking. Sounds like the voice of experience.

Ha ha I did actually think about whipping the blocks out and 'distributing' them around the edges.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far; I'll try a bit of everything and see how it goes!

Do it where the plants overhang the edge of the paving

These days if I'm changing oil I try to remember to have some kitty litter standing by, I'll always end up dripping some or slopping the full oil pan and the quicker it's soaked up the less it shows.

I've had success with petrol well scrubbed in followed soon after by washing up liquid also vigorously agitated and then washed away.
