Default Throttle body, hoses, black smoke etc

Hi all,

I have a 2009 C30 2.0d with a ripped throttle body inlet/outlet pipe. I’ve taken the hoses off and cleaned the throttle body but noticed a sticking flap (the metal one that stays closed). I’ve ordered a repair kit and am looking for replacement hoses but I’m struggling to work out which ones I need.

The throttle body has two large hoses that connect to it centrally but all the diagrams online and on eBay seem to show something else. Any help would be much appreciated!

Would these issues be causing the black smoke and loss of power? And is there anything else I need to do / avoid?

Thanks, Joe

That split hose looks aftermarket. It is originally a plastic pipe and connects the intercooler with the intake manifold.

The volvo part number is 31261897 and is quite expensive but that is the only guaranteed fit. Ebay and Autodoc parts are much cheaper but are usually made from generic hose that has been heated and then twisted into a shape that is more or less like the original.

can't help you with an answer but can tell you that I had 2008. 2.0d from 2013-2016 and I had black smoke all the time. I loved that car but that black smoke in combination with car's super white color was sad (had black r-design). Noone in the service knew why was that.

Thank you, I think you’re right. I’ve ordered a replacement already without realising the original hose wasn’t like that.

Is the EGR an easy enough part to get at? I’ll have a look on YouTube but wondered if you’d done it / found it easy?

i would not say its easy allow at least 3hrs if its your first time changeing one. check if its working before changeing it out. a good diagnostic tool is your best bet to find out if its working.
