Well I'm of the thinking that someone has stripped the threads, drilled through, and is now using plain shanked bolts with nuts - which aren't even matching.
EDIT: pettaw - that makes sense then Could you possibly recommend something in answer of the question at the bottom of my post!? MASSIVE HEADACHE. I can't even get one of the nuts out there's that little room. What's the easiest thing to take out from around there to gain some extra access? |

Ah, bum clouds! I've only removed one on a 360...
Are they basically bolted through a pair of 'nobbles' in the bellhousing, but there's not enough depth to get a tool on the nut? I have a picture in my mind of a very narrow spanner working... Might this be B172 only? I can't remember what a B14 one looks like, but my mental picture is of a 360-style fixing. Confusion... cheers James

Pretty sure its B14 and B172 mate, but can't be 100% on anything. Well, I AM sure its B172 for definite. Whether its also B14s I don't know. I'll go check later if I get a chance.
I have a feeling because I have small hands and thin fingers I managed to hold it by hand to get it going and then jammed a screwdriver in the flats to stop it turning. It was a long time ago....sorry |

EDIT: Seems to run fine now. Bit of smoke as oil was burnt off then nothing.
To be honest though I am fed up of spending time and money on it, only to use it twice a month. Sell time! Last edited by ChrisH; Jan 31st, 2009 at 16:51. |

They're not inherantly unreliable. I've never had a crank sensor go down, for example, and we've been running 300s since 1992. The carbs can give a bit of grief, but only need some TLC...
My 'modern' car has needed more work cheers James
