Default Crooked Billet - local speed limits

Just paid a visit to Little Knocks to fix a kerbed alloy (great service as usual!). My route takes me up the A412 past the Crooked Billet and on towards the M40. Since I last drove up there (mid-December) the local council have made some significant changes to the speed limits, as follows:

1. Approaching from A4 (Slough) via A412
  • 40mph zone extended to about 1/4 mile beyond "Luigi's" (car wash) - about an extra 3/4 mile!
  • Dual carriageway up to Billet - speed reduced to 60mph

2. Approaching from M40/A412
  • Dual carriageway reduced to 60mph
  • Single carriageway at 50mph (poss. no change?)
  • Speeds through Iver Heath reduced to 30mph (from 40)

Craziest thing is, the narrow (sometimes single track) roads (under the same council) leading to Little Knocks are national speed limit....

There are currently no permanent money boxes (or none that I saw anyway ) on those sections of the A412, apart from those in the (unchanged) 40mph area near Slough.

Cool

I was visiting slough at the weekend and can confirm the changes to the speed zones.

Also be aware that the 40 Mph zone as you pass the crooked billet is extended past the Esso garage to the first junction heading south to Slough.
The layby/slip road after the juntion is where the mobile speed/ANPR camera van sits and a regular basis.

Thanks Rbphot - I hadn't noticed that one!
