Default V70xc fuel pump replacement

My V70xc cross country needs a fuel pump replacement. As it's the 4x4 it appears it needs quite a bit of work to drop suspension and things from under the car, however I have seen that you can cut a hole in the floor behind the back seat to take it out the tank from inside the car. Has anyone done this and has anyone got any dimensions to cut the hole in the right place. I really don't want to strip the car down, as I just don't have the time. Is the pump unique to the all wheel drive? Any advice welcome. Thanks

V70 XC has a different tank, the pump is in a different place with a separate level sender unit.

V70 XC tank: Pump is number 23 in pic below, part number 9470674. Sender unit is number 7 in pic below

Once you remove the boot floor panel you will see inspection/access covers to the left and right. These allow access to the pump/sender, strut top mounts and the various electrical connections for the pump/sender and rear ABS sensors.

Access is tight but you should be able to remove the pump from here without the need to drop the fuel tank. Before you remove any connections you'll probably need to give it a once over with a vacuum cleaner and clean paint brush to prevent any debris dropping down into your clean tank.

When you say remove the boot panel, do you mean when I cut a hole on it, as there isn't any panel to actually remove. The other problem o have is working out exactly where to cut it. I haven't had a good look at it yet so maybe I can work it out. Thanks for your help 👍

My apologies, Amazondean, I automatically assumed all P80's have the same fuel pump/sender access point. It was not my intention to lead you astray. I guess we have Volvo to thank for the complexities on the AWD/XC system but clearly the chief design officer was away on holiday when they signed off on the AWD/XC. Surely they could have placed an access panel there during manufacture of the XC...?

I don't fancy you butchering your lovely XC so luckily, albeit time consuming, RobertDIY also goes in the correct route:

I knew this job would be a massive pain, but i still think cutting a neat hole in the floor is the answer. If the pump ever needs doing again the panel can just be removed easily. It might be a job for me when it gets warmer to give me motivation and more time.

Just as a note, the pump is still working but it has started to get noisy, so i presume it will need replacement ? 🤔

Thanks for the video 4x4 The first one shows exactly where to cut. I think i would cut it out and fit brackets to hold it back in when i've finished like on the video. Really there should be an access hole there anyway, it's just trying to make a neat job of it!

Thanks for all the help 😊
