Having said that, the engines in his two 4x4s are a tad agricultural and I'm sure the LC would run on Elephant dung if it needed to. I'll let him know it's not for Volvo's.
Old landrovers and even tdi's will even run on a mix of old engine oil, the C3 wont last long though and the guy will be shocked at the repair cost - see it regularly in our business!!!

The thing for me is that Volvo spend millions on engine research and equipment and have a hugh number of engines to experiment with, and they say don't do it because they haven't designed the D5 engine for it. Does anybody here running biodiesel experiments on their engine have those kind of resources?

been using biodiesel for nearly 2.5 years now and havent had any problems.

Am running a 2001 v40 at the moment on 100% bio, just covered 4000miles with no problems. never had a blocked filter in 2 years...! My missus runs her 2008 peugeot 1.4hdi on a 50/50 blend too.

I know a guy on one of the forums who has just clocked up 20 thou in his s40 on bio, now showing 180 thou.
another one has run his 02 307 1.4hdi and citroen c3 on 100% bio for 2 years with no problems.

with pump diesel now at £1.40 a litre on a 60 litre tank i save an average £60 every time i fill up........!

Can I ask where you are sourcing your biodiesel?

Do these vehicles have diesel particle filters (DPFs)? I would think that the 2001 V40 would not have a DPF. I would think the 2008 Peugot 1.4hdi would have one, but don't really know. If the Peugot does have one, then maybe Peugot have a better regeneration technique than Volvo.
