I've used Brittania Rescue for years. http://www.britanniarescue.com/cover...uropean-assist

They are the Which best buy but I don't really know what the service is like as my Volvo's have never broken down while I've been with them. It costs £130 for UK and European cover.

After some reading on the net I think I will go for ADAC.DE - they do offer full UK and European cover, and I know from few german friends, that their service is just amazing.
Not to mention, for a fraction of typical UK breakdown cover price ...

Says it's €98.70. What's the service in the UK like? Says the operators are German speaking. How does that work out?

Tried google it, and lots of folks here in UK have their cover - they do have bi-lingual speakers, also in the UK they refer every case to AA - so service is still good. Also, ADAC extent of the cover is a bit greater than covers provided by AA, RAC and others...

The web site looks good but it's all in German but Google can't translate some of the most interesting bits.

My friend from Germany said he will give ADAC a call and ask if UK drivers can get any cover from them. I'll keep you posted!

One more question (probably another 100s will come later - I wish I decided to fly rather than drive ).

MY05 D5 has bi-xenon lights (as far as I understand, these are D2R, available for approx £20 off ebay) - but was wondering what color temperature these lights should have? I think the ones I've got just now are slightly blue-ish.
I wonder what are the chances of D2Rs failing, but it's probably better to be safe than sorry ...

I still wait for the news from my german friend about ADAC cover...

Standard fit ones are 4700k from memory. The higher the number the bluer the light from them.

Clan said the dip daytime running lights last about seven years. So the main beam will be a lot longer.

Just phoned Volvo service to ask for the engine and gearbox oil change price.

I was told, that as I don't do any towing or offroad, I should just check the gearbox oil level, and leave it as it is.

for the engine oil, guy has looked into the system and said that the oil has been changed 5k miles ago, so he would not bother changing it, even if I plan my 3-4k miles trip. he said to change it at next service, which is scheduled for June 2011.

I think I'm going to check the oil levels, and if they are low, I'll just go for a small top-up to Volvo garage ...
