If you break down on the French Motorway System , no breakdown company will be able to respond to any call for help you make as by law only the French Police can send help. So if you break down you can only call the Police for help.

Just got reply from ADAC - with my membership number and with a note that the papers have been sent yesterday and should be with me shortly!
Weeee !

To join, I have sent them an email to their service address (as advised previously on the phone) with all my and my car details, and credit card details for payment. Two days later - account number arrived

To make story a bit more joyful, yesterday, the Volvo breakdown cover papers appeared - after only 287 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) days from purchase date!
Not to mention, now having adac cover I won't even bother taking volvo papers with me ... In case of emeregency, I would probably have to wait another 8 months on the roadside for them ...

Car has been checked this morning in Volvo - apart from one bulb gone, it's (using mechanic's words) - in great shape
They checked gearbox/engine oils and splined sleeve (added this to the list on my request) and everything seems to be ok.

Only thing I need to do at next MOT (June) is to replace brake fluid.
I might do it myself before I go - do you have any recommendations to what brake fluid to use??

Thanks!
