How new is new? If the car is new as in still under warranty, then take it back to your dealer.

What exactly do you mean, or is it just me that's confused?

mine was the same last week so took it back to the dealers still under warranty and new part of the key was orded from germany ,and had to be recoded to the car as the spring can not be orded on its own ,the key splits in two parts

Found a web site that shows the internal mechanism of the key,
and discusses how to repair your problem :

http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...p?f=10&t=31639

Unless you are quite proficient in such matters it looks like the best bet
will be to go and talk nicely to your Volvo dealer about ordering new key(s) !
