Default xc90 T6 rear droning noise

Hello,
this is my first time posting so hope this works okay....I have a 07 xc90 T6 which recently developed a droning noise. Car was due for mot and required new tyres and also full brake replacement and I presumed this would fix the droning noise but to no avail.....the drone is still there. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks

Firstly, welcome.

Didn't know they did the T6 after the 2006 facelift? Anyway, could it be a wheel bearing?

I have also read on this forum that the T6 transmission suffers with problems. Someone else will be able to advise you better than me, but I think the current advice is to replace the transmission fluid with an Amsoil product that can clean and restore the gearbox in the first instance.

Well, it sounds like a wheel bearing from your description. Many XC90s have suffered this issue - probably cost about £200 to replace at a local indie. If you are unlucky, another will go in a couple of months.....

Had the same 'droning' (sounds like a wheel bearing) on my 850 for ages. In the end I bought Michelins, never had it again!! I had tried Pirelli & Avon previously. Colleague found the same problem on an MG/Rover

My money would be on wheel bearing.

Default Droning noise

Sounds like a wheel bearing, cost about £90 and takes only 1/2 an hour to fit, you only need basic mechanics.

Firstly thanks to everyone for their advice. ....The noise seems to be coming from the left side, but its very hard to be exact. It does increase as you accelerate and when sitting about 80mph it seems to slightly shudder. I did fit new bridgestones last week and the chap in the garage said the bearings seem okay when he checked them but he heard the noise and was convinced the bearing was the issue. The car has only done 19,000 miles. Bloody nightmare really.....

Agree with the sentiment that rear wheel bearings are easy DIY job too.
