Default Dipped lights rubbish?

They’re no better than halogen dipped other than the road being a lot whiter. The throw beam on them isn’t great.

The adaptive full beam shadow works well and high beam assist, but when it goes onto just dipped it is hard to see.

I was on motorway last night, s90 2016, for the first time since having th4 car and the full beam shadow wouldn’t come on, it was either full beam or dipped and on some stretches of the motorway I was having to concentrate unnecessarily on following the lines.....the draining type concentration.

Maybe a silly question but can you alter the beam or are 5hry self levelling and it’s not possible?

On normal road 5he adaptive shadow full beam works all the time and just dips with street lights so I don’t know why the motorway is different.

Other than that the lights are super. Thanks

They are self levelling, I use my front driving/fog lights to supplement my dipped beam when struggling with conditions they light the side of the road up much better.

If they are actually set too low you can adjust the level manually using a hex key through the top covers (not my photo), but be aware of not dazzling other road users and your friendly MOT tester will probably dial them down again. This should not affect the self levelling as you are adjusting the lens in the holder.

I find most modern cars are set conservatively low for our rural roads out here and need a quick tweak.

Adaptive hadow is disabled on the motorway / dual carriageways after about 90 seconds in favour of automatic dipping. Comes back on when you slow down.

Really? That's not mentioned in the manual.

Seems to be related to the number of vehicles, it can only cope with 5 at a time due to the way they work. I have actually found them to be nigh on dangerous at times as the beam almost disappears on the nearside for a couple of seconds. On A roads they seem to function better.
