Talking Volvo 144s Rally Car

Hi All,
I'm in the half fortunate position of getting hold of a Ginetta, a car I've always fancied, but unfortunate in that I'll not be able to keep the 144 and the Ginetta, so anyone here fancy a rally car?
It has been continually worked on, and used in the NESCRO rallies, and has always finished, and never last! Basically, it's a great first car for these kind of motorsport events.

So, currently it has:

1968 car with 187,000 miles on it.
1972 B20E engine, from a 40k miler I dismantled. It's running twin SUs just rebuilt, the overdrive gearbox from the B20E.
It has the Amazon cars progressive springs on it, KYB gas shock absorbers, full set of polybush bushes from KG Trimning. Recent steering rods.

All the brake calipers have been replaced with reconditioned items.

Steel FIA spec sump guard

It runs on 740 steelies with rally tyres on it, I've the original set of wheels and hub caps too.

The fuel tank has been removed and it now has an alloy tank over the rear axle, firewalled also.

Interior, hmm, two Sparco seats, 4 point harnesses, 6 point Safety Devices roll cage, still has door and ceiling trim in place, the rear seat is now foam backed.

It's a great fun, car, MOTed and taxed (which is free), but I think it's too far modded to convert back to original, however it is a great way to have a fun car that you don't worry too much about.

There's also a load of spares and K cam, steel timing gear and crank scraper that I haven't yet fitted which will come with the car if the price is right!

What I plan to do is keep driving and working on it until it sells so spec may change slightly as I go.

It has also been used in Practical Classics and also Full Throttle magazine, which I was involved in.

Hmm, hard to put a value on this so I've totted up what it owes me for the purchase and all the parts, then halved it, I hope the wife doesn't check this site!

£1950 ono, feel free to PM me for any questions or further details, I've put on a few pics, but I'm overseas so will upload more detailed ones when I return.

Cheers all,

Sam

Hi Mate,
You could, and I'll chuck in a free car! I don't want to sell all the bits off just yet without the car because I'll be using and developing it till it sells. If someone buys it before the bits are fitted and doesn't want them then I'll sell them seperately.

I got it from:
http://www.crank-scrapers.com/Volvo.html

It's hell of a thing with trap doors and all sorts, it did take 4 months to get here though cos they are pretty busy and make to order.

Cheers,

Sam

Hi Steve,
Well, a G16......
No not really, I've given up hoping for a G21 so am close to sorting out a G15 resto job, which should be a nice project. I've also my Alfetta GTV to get finished in the meantime, I'm "rationalising", basically too busy to have lots of pets so time to clear the fleet out and just have one pet.

Good for you getting in with Ginetta, they are about the coolest UK company.

Cool. Im not up on the older models but they do have a couple on the workshop floor that are owned by Ginettas owner. I think I put a thread up quite a while back called "my other car involvement" which has some photos of them and the Ginetta workshop.

Its only a work experience thing supposedly, but thats just the excuse so I can go there rather than kick balls around a field

Default Volvo 144s Rally Car- more pics

Hello all, cheers for the PMs,
generally asking for more pics, here's a few for you- the engine bay, (note 4-2-1 manifold and happy SUs).
The interior, yep, that's a Mota-Lita wheel on there, OK, I will let the Terratrip go with the car.......
Also the boot, Tank strapped in, with reinforcing plates behind the strap eyes, spare wheel wells removed and the big hole where the tank was covered with ally, all the straps there have a use, holding the spare wheels down, plus one each side for fluids and tools.
Also in the shed, I've a set of the "BBS" Torslanda alloys for fitting with road tyres, four spare rims with fairly goosed but well legal Colway rally tyres on (the best two make my spares), another brand new Colway EMJO 185-70 R15 and a host of engine parts, clutch kits etc.

A pretty comprehensive kit and seeing as there is zero interchangability with the 144 and a Ginetta you'll get the whole hoard!

Cheers!

Sam

Hi Guys,
It's now on the evilbay, I decided that I really want to get this Ginetta project moving sooner rather than later so check it out!

Cheers,

Default probably too late?

Hi, only just read your ad for the 144. Presume you sold it? If not can you let me know?

Thanks

Mike
