2-3-2 Fault code
Hi everybody,
Your help would be appreciated! The dreaded lambda light has come on recently in my 1995 850 T5. The fault code that has come up is 2-3-2 which I believe relates to long term fuel mixture or something similar. The code has been cleared several times by my local volvo independent but each time the light has come back on, even after a recent service where he said he also cleared out the breather pipes. He has suggested that it could be the heated oxygen sensor that is faulty and needs replacing. Could anyone tell me if there are any other common problems that would cause that code to register or is it likely that it is the sensor that needs replacing? Many thanks in advance. Nick |

that code most likely means you have a vacuum leak somewhere, the most common place is the little right angled hose that sits behind the intake manifold on the drivers side.
you may want to go around the car and replace all the smaller vac hoses. |

Second that. If you pick up some Silicone tubing from your local car accessory shop, this replaces the complete pressure sensing hose network quite nicely. You will probably find that a lot of the original rubber hoses have deteriorated quite badly as well as the rubber elbows. If you rub your thumb along the hose and it comes off black with rubber dust then that hose is shot.

Try the action in theis link:
http://www.volvospeed.com/DTC/a2_232.php Most common problem is the elbow on the end inlet manifold under the power steering pump. |

Thank you!
Thanks for your advice guys. I shall certainly replace the elbows and also probably the various hoses before I think about doing the HO2 sensor. Are they all relatively easy to trace/locate? Is there a 'kit' available with all the necessary connectors/hoses etc?
Thanks, Nick |

I can't make out the exact items from my invoice,
But i think 9471644 is the main breather hose set 1271988 is the oil trap and either 979125 or 1271654 is the upper breather hose... TT |
