Default Wipers on, indicator on all the time

Ok went shopping, while driving down the road all was normal. Then the wipers started going thought I knocked the stick but no. Then indicated to pull over so I could restart the car (somtimes resets issues) Started fine but wipers still going and now I can't turn the indicator off from off side, nothing on either of the sticks is working ie washers ect.

Have had a small leak edge of windscreen drivers side which I was going to do then we had lockdown. Car stood a few days and we have had a bit of heavy rain so my guess is water has got into a module. But which one and where is it located ?

Anyone had a similar issue ?

Good chance that's the CEM behind the glove box. Check in there for wet or damp carpet or did deadening. Get it out ASAP and dried off and hopefully no permanent damage done if it did get wet.

Checked carpets which seem dry. My thoughts are a problem with the stalk housing so going to strip it and pull the wires tomorrow to see if that stops the wipers, indicators. God I hate electrics on modern cars

Ok update

Car fixed having taking it to Volvo main agent. Now bare in mind wipers were on all the time and indicators stuck on with no function on the stalks for any other operation.
So one would assume it would be the module behind the steering wheel where the stalks are. Nope turns out it was the light switch module part 31443851 that caused the problem. Does not make sense to me but might save someone a headache if they get a similar issue

Since everything communicates with everything in these cars, a fault in one unit can block signals from another.

Hi! Having same problem and wonder if it was an expensive repair. Thanks in advance for any info.

To be specific. Wiper blades start on their own, they change speed every 4-5 minutes and then stop for a few seconds. Then the whole cycle starts again. They keep going for a while even with the engine off and keys out. Is like they are possessed! Please Help!

I ended up taking it to main dealer thinking it was the control panel behind the steering wheel where the stalks connect to but they found it was the light switch unit £20ish 2nd hand £65 new. But like been said seems all the modules talk to each other so need Vida to find out where problem is. I have just invested in one hope it works. £95 to find the fault at Volvo
