Default Air filter alternative for Stromberg

Hi folks. Can anyone recommend an alternative air filter to the standard disposable metal Volvo unit please. Single Stromberg currently installed. Thanks

Good Morning ,

https://www.aldonauto.co.uk/air-filt...ters/stromberg , think that may well cover your needs .

I have in the past used the metal plate from an existing air filter as a pattern& had one cut out to mount a far larger paper filter . Simple L brackets riveted /welded to on plate retain the filter and the breather pipe can also be routed back in if that is how it was fitted originally . Once you have you paper filter just write every filter number in indelible marker on plates so you can order by part number

The K&N filters on the link are far more expensive than the Volvo filter. Volvo one is good for at least 50k miles so better value anyway.

Pipercross are a long established UK company so likely cheaper to buy here from maybe Demon Tweeks or a similar company.

I remember a V8 single seater in Prescott Hill Climb running piper cross filters and the rep of piper cross removed the top of the filters....quick as a flash one other competitor run over and wrote cr*p in the dust UNDER the filter....it was quickly wiped off....they are rubbish they dont filter anything.I also heard of them being sucked in on Turbo engines ( in know that's not a problem on the Volvo)
But i have always said you get what you pay for cheap is cheap for a reason..
As for as engine parts i try and go for the best i can afford....so for me its K&N every time.

I put a K&N filter on mine and am very happy with it. Clean and re-oil it every now and then.
