Any amazon dashtops about?
My lovely 122s's bodywork is finally done and it's looking lovely... but have yet to track down a replacement dash top as mine's really shrunk and doesn't fit properly anymore. I've gathered this seems to be a common problem (which is probably why there aren't many good second-hand ones about) but thought I'd ask on the off-chance.

I assume you used spray adhesive, did it stick ok in the grooves on the dash
Tom because my dash has small cuts and scrapes but no real damage so was planning on recovering as well. |

yes i did use spray adhesive the grooves show through but are not a promounced as before but mine was so bad i thought that it could not be any worse i did not go round the speedo surround as my skill at vinyl work is not that high and it was not cracked so i am just gonna put a trim around the join the worst bit is getting the dash off the metal without damaging it

Tom, Do I read into your comment that you had to remove the Dash Plastic cowl from the metalwork underneath firstly. If so how did the underneath padding survive.
Also any pics of the finished job would be very welcome as I need to do something similar, and am most interested to learn how to achieve the best results. Anthony |

Thanks for your replies folks.
I've actually bought some vinyl to re-cover my dashtop if I have no joy getting hold of a better one so it's reassuring to know this has worked for someone! Thanks too for the ebay info... will see if it stays in my price range! Emily |

I think have just 3 fibreglass dashtops left that I had made up several years ago. I used one on my car at the time and sold one to a friend and the others on ebay.
I've not put these on ebay for a while as I can't remember the condition of them. But here is a link to the one I sold to a friend when he was restoring his car...plus his comments on the dashtop. http://www.autopendium.com/posts/296...top-a-solution Hope this helps Peter |
