Unhappy V70R AWD for sale Spares or Repairs

Sadly, I have to say goodbye to my V70R

It's a 2000 model 2.4 (265BHP) blue top.

MOT runs out in June 2016 and it'll need some work to pass the next MOT.

Has all the usual toys, electric heated seats (memory on drivers seat), SC901 3 disk changer (Also have a 6 disk changer in the boot), electric windows, mirrors, sunroof etc etc.

Has the 2 colour Grey / Black interior.

Currently has 155K on the clock.

Some service history (I do most of it myself), but I do have lots of bills and receipts for work I've had done to the car and I've had the car since 2008

Bad Bits:

It is no longer AWD (due to the standard rubbish transfer box issue). The Propshaft has been removed and I have this so it will go with the car when it is sold.

Laquer on the front drivers side wing has started to peel, also along the top of the drivers, and rear driver side door. I do have the paint for this direct from Volvo but have not had the chance to do this. Again it will go with the car.

Dash warning lights: ABS - Needs a sensor replaced on the rear left wheel (I have a VIDA so will get a printout of the errors and upload a pic)
Engine Management - this is a Catalytic Converter Efficiency error, I've had this error crop up a number of times since owning the car. O2 sensor replaced but still randomly comes up. I believe I must have an air leak in the system somewhere but I've been unable to find it.
Service Light - Yes, it needs a service (Cam Belts have been done in the past, I have receipts to prove this)

For some reason, FM does not work on the stereo, I think it is a dry joint because occasionally it will spring into life. Both CD players work fine though, and AM/LW still works.

When cold, I get the stop warning pop up on the dash when I accelerate, cannot find anything in the ODBII logs. Seems to be worse when the weather is cold but goes off when I lift my foot off of the accelerator.

Torque converter issue possibly ??. When you first start off if the car has been stood for a number of hours, there is very little drive, is ok after about 30 seconds. I had the gearbox rebuilt last year after it failed, so do not think it is down to the gearbox.

Needs a replacement exhaust, the rear silencers (Especially on the drivers side) are deteriorating. I have patched as best as I could (So the car did not sound like a boy racers fiesta).

I think that just about covers it.

Car is totally standard

I think it would make a good restoration project as it would be a shame to break it for parts. Especially since these cars are getting so rare now.
I just don't have the space, or time to do the work myself otherwise I would.

The car is in Basingstoke, Hampshire and is currently SORN.

I am going to put it onto EBay but would like to give fellow Volvo enthusiasts the opportunity to take it first.

Please no silly offers, tyre kickers or test pilots. Although the car will drive you will need to arrange TAX and Insurance to take it away unless you are going to use a trailer.

This is sold as seen, I've listed everything that I can think of, I will VIDA the car (Once it stops raining grrr) and if I find anything else will update this post.

Once it's on EBay, I'll put in the link.

Thanks
Rhys

There must be other people out there like me who'd love a resto project like this. I have a phase 1 V70R on my drive (and living room, and kitchen and conservatory and dinning room) at the moment so I don't have the space but fingers crossed some like minded people are looking.

Indeed, I'd love to take something like this on myself, time, money and space are not on my side at the moment.

To the OP, you'd do much better giving an indication of price, as a lot of folk may not want to potentially offend.

Hi Mate,

Having a look around, there are not a lot of these cars about. There was one 1998 Manual 2WD on ebay a couple of weeks ago. also spares or repairs, had 189K on the clock, was a CAT C write-off repaired, needed exhaust and the ABS electronics repairing and was up to about £2K before it was sold elsewhere.

Would like to think i would get at least £1500 for it as I would easily get that if I broke it for parts.

Will see what it goes for on EBay when I put it up.

Cheers

Should this read 2017, or did the MOT expire last year? J.
