far as I can tell it's just mechanical

also in accident I wouldn't want to be relying on any sort of solenoids or whatever to have someone get me out of the car.. so I'm hoping that's all it is

in the video there are 2 rods from the handle down to the latch mechanism, one for the lock and one for the handle.

what then happens at the latch I don't know.. Is one of those rods disconnected or damaged somehow.. without at least taking the door card off and shining a torch in there while someone pulls the handle a few times who can say

Default Hi.

This link is for rear door...
You will have to remove the door-card and insulation no matter what.
You will then see if the metal rod from the door handle has become un-clipped or stripped from the blue plastic holder on the lock .
If everything is still attached you can operate the handles to see if anything is jammed or bent .
If the blue plastic holder has stripped out a little bit of glue and tie-wraps will work .
If none of the above remove the lock , plug in the electrical connection and check the operation of the lock .
