Sounds a bit like the small ends did when they went on my old Sunbeam Rapier. Hope not as that is a major strp down.

I went completely over the top and bought a short block, thus changing the main working parts of the engine. Reworked the cylinder head with new valve guides and valves and springs. All ran beautifully after that, but it should be noted that things were far less expensive way back then.

your right about that buddy..... I was thinking that the previous owner messed with the idle mixture screw cause since the injector o rings were leaking the messed with for a richer mixture and now i need to lean it out some or the WUR could be the issue here

To me it sounds like the exhaust is leaky. I had a bad exhaust manifold gasket, and that made the car run really rough. (although its hard to tell from a recording, that sound didn't sound as mechanical and 'ringy or thumpy' as I'd think an engine problem would)

Another thing, when I've had exhaust/manifold gasket issues, they tend to smooth out when the revs increase. When I had bad engine bearings, that made the engine vibrate more than at idle- it sent a 'shudder' through the car at certain RPM's.
