Internet Connection Problem?
First off, got the car yesterday and very pleased with it. The engine is very quiet and lively, hence me wanting speed limits on the Sat Nav.
I can see me getting a few penalty points, if I am not careful. Problem, as yet I cannot connect to the internet. Car has no modem, so it has to be the phone. With the phone connect to the internet via data connection, I can open web pages. With the phone paired to the car with bluetooth, I can receive/make calls. OK, so far. I then selected bluetooth tethering on the phone. Go to My Car Select settings Select Internet Select Bluetooth I then see the arrows going around and around and after a while they change to a red cross. If I select the Internet button, all that happens here, it is saying connecting and after a while it says connection failed. Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong? I really only want to register, to be able to Send to Car. Thank you. tem.

Have yo checked your phone in settings>more>tethering and portable hotspot and then ticked bluetooth tethering so the box is checked. Your car should then be ready to receive internet from you car via the phone..
All you need to do then is click the internet button on the instrument cluster and it should link the two. It does take a while sometimes but check with your phone as there might be a box which you need to check to allow tethering for the first time. Also make sure you're in a good mobile phone area for reception as it might not work without a good signal. Mine sometimes takes ages to link up (maybe up to two minutes). Good luck and let us know how you get on. If you wanted to talk through this later I can sit in my car and talk over on a mobile phone if this helps. Just PM but try this bit first.

I am pretty sure tethering turns itself off every time you turn Bluetooth off and does not turn itself back on. I seem to recall someone posting an app that sorts this out. Also depends on software versions I know some people have been having problems with android kit-kat as well.

I have it and it turns bluetooth tethering on every time you turn on phone. It's called 'BT Auto Tethering' on andriod but actually think there is an option now in Kit Kat update that also allows this to to be a preset function, presumably because so many people now use tethering and it makes life easier.

I can manage to use the phone data connection and Bluetooth to operate a Nexsus 7 tab.
I think I have missed a step when trying to get internet access in the car. Where you switch Bluetooth on, once everything is paired, I think I have to press on the word Bluetooth and select something like My Volvo Car. Does this make sense? Had a beer, so not going near the car until tomorrow. tem.

Tem,
You need to make 2 different bluetooth connections to the car. You make one for voice and another for media. If you haven't done this then that is where your problem lies. Iain

The mobile had a recent update to Kit Kat so I am going to try another phone which had Kit Kat already installed from new. If this fails, I will have to manually input my destinations. tem.

Given up.
Cannot connect to the internet via the Web button or My Car. Just spent ages inputting destinations manually. tem.
