Black SC-801 H/Unit with AUX in hack & RCA for ext. amplifie

Hi Chaps

Digging through some of my things, I've found the headunit I had in my 850. Its a Black SC-801 Premium Sound System headunit in good condition that I had 'hacked' by our very own bobbych, see here for some info:

In addition to his Aux input on the front panel, I asked him to put another jack input on a long lead from the back of the headunit so I could keep that lead in the glovebox (just kept the ipod/mp3 player in there), and also an rca output with 12v turn on lead so I could power an external amplifier from the stock Volvo headunit with no messing around.

With this I ran a nice alpine amp with some decent component speakers up front and a sub in the boot, all being fed from my mp3 player, but it all looked stock. IIRC I think the sacrifice for this was losing the rear speaker output from the headunit, however this wasn't an issue for me as you don't need rear with a decent amped set of components up front. If it was an issue you could always just get a 4ch amp instead to power some rears for a bit of fill.

Amped aftermarket component speakers are far better than stock sound systems as some of you probably know so this was a neat way of having a modernised high quality setup, without sacrificing the stock look.

Doubt there are any other modded SC-801 headunits like this out there so doubt this will hang around, grab a bargain at £80. I'll probably kick myself for selling this if I ever get myself another 850 or 960 which takes the SC headunit!

It's for the white one yeah! Next on the list is stereo upgrade. I want to keep the stock headunit, so was looking at options to modify it to have an aux input and be able to run an external amp, so this is ideal!!
