Default whiteblock auto gearbox control?

Hi all, I am considering using a 6 pot white block from a 960 for a conversion into a Ford It would be preferential to use a manual gearbox but they appear unobtainable easily. As auto's are readily available I wonder what would be required electrically to use this option, if at all? I believe this box is the AW-40
Thinking it would be easier to purchase a complete car to use as a donor I wonder if any knowledgeable folk on here could point me into the direction as to which model to purchase or any technical info source.
Many thanks.

Most can be wired to run in other cars, you need to know what year and so on before you can start digging around. Are you planning on using the entire Volvo loom for the injection and autobox etc?

I have done some searching and to answer your question probably the best thing would be to use the ECU for the gearbox and wire this independently. I'm assuming it wont need info from the engine as I wanted to use a stand alone retro fitted like "megasquirt" etc. To be honest it will be a lot of work for just the gearbox, if only there was a manual gearbox handy.

The gearbox ECU talks to the engine management ECU to alter ignition timing and fueling when in Sport or Winter modes. You'd be more likely to find a 2.5 960 with a manual box, or possibly an S90/V90. Get the gearbox, pedal box, clutch, flywheel and all other parts you need for the manual stuff then hang it on the back of the B6304.

The two ECUs also communicate in normal mode as well to smooth the changes and so on.

The chances of finding a whiteblock M90 are very very slim, tbh the 6 cylinder whiteblock isn't very tuneable compared to a redblock so if you wanted tuning then go for a red block if you want a 6 cylinder then something like a 2JZ will be better as you can buy loads of performance parts off the shelf.

You can use a simple unit like this for manual control https://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=47229 or more advanced standalone unit like MegaShift.
