S80 heated seats
Hi, just bought a S80 2007 model and the drivers heated seat seems pretty ineffective (even on 3 orange lights) - do the seats have a heater element that wears out and could be replaced as they are definitely not warm and more like like warm. Passenger seat seems ok ish.

There's a heater module underneath the seat, as pictured on this thread on another forum. Check that the wiring going into the module is secure & also check the condition of it (You shouldn't see charred wires for example).

Thank you for the help so far - any cost effective places anyone can recommend for me to replace this heater module as I am guessing new ones are expensive and I am more than happy with old ones taken out of a car being broken for spares?
What’s the likelihood of the failure being the module or the elements inside the seats (this would mean I guess taking the leather off the seat to ‘fix’ the element and sounds expensive!

The heating elements in the seats tend to either work or break. Not anywhere in between. Power control is via pulse width modulation, i.e. the controller sends current all the time for full power, but pulses on/off at a specific relation for reduced power levels.
Replacing elements isn't too difficult. I've done it a couple of times on other cars. But if you get any heat at all, they aren't likely the problem. You can measure their resistance and compare with the other side, if you like. You could have a problem with the thermostat. |

one possibility is that there may be different settings for the heater which can be set by a dealer. At least you can for the ventilated seat settings, as I had those 'turned up' on my 2009 S80.

As Paul's just said, I believe you can turn up the heat in VIDA.
Standard disclaimer obviously applies, but different markets have different heat settings. What's cold to us might not be cold to Sweden. Having stayed there one Christmas...I had a new appreciation for "it's quite cold outside". https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...%2D1%2C%20%2D2.
