Cool

Couldn't agree more but the odd thing is that whilst those criteria were passed at the September MOT.
It only leaks on refilling.... whilst my nose says there is leak problem, my Draeger analyser aka "sniffer" doesn't find/show/identify any meaningful or problematic leak.

I think the MOT concern, as with the cap seal (had one of those as a fail on one car I had and I now check them every time as part of my pre-MOT checks), is in the event of an accident and the car being on its side or inverted. Not sure how that sits when there must be an atmospheric vent somewhere to prevent vacuum, unless that vent has an NRV?

Ahhh, that's where I remembered the username peppermint from lol. (We spoke about PAS pinion valves/spool valves on YT recently & you kindly linked me to the wheel kicking video. Thank You.) Not tried it yet but may do, steering seems to be slowly improving with CHF in it's rightful place though.

Until the leak started on filling there had always been positive pressure when removing the fuel cap...ie a hiss as the pressure dropped on opening the filler cap.

On the odd occasion I've had to turn the motor over several times before it fired up - if I pause between position II and the start position it doesn't happen so I had assumed the pump created a system pressurised by design but the split connector was preventing full pressurisation.

Did a diy video replacing the small bushing on the control arm. This is controversial, but I know there are still people out there who want to try this way, instead of just replacing the hole control arm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0q4nku0Rz8

Thumbs up Position No1, ignition electrics.

Fitted a new starter switch for the ignition, hey presto all the gremlins have gone away.
These electrical problems would be dependant on the outside temperature:- i.e if it was around 0C there would be problems a'plenty, like a '70s disco, give it five minutes and they'd disappear---------------no fun when you lose your headlights momentarily, i'll tell you!.
As for the loss of both remote's functionality? it hasn't cured that.I may well be living with it!!!!!!!

Replaced both tie rods, track rods and rack gaitors with Lemforder parts after discovering that the NSF track rod ball joint had failed at 91k. The original Volvo parts were also Lemforder and were identical in every way to the replacements.

Pulled the rear discs off and had a gander at the handbrake shoes.
They've been on there for about 60k, ever since i had to change the discs due to a nasty wear pattern; had to scrape away all the rust from the outer edge but they're still wearing oddly, just one of those things I guess.

Not sure what all the fuss about handbrake shoe adjusters is though; follow the manual, use quality parts and they're fine left as stock......
