Question Soot filter full

Have had my V50 for about four years and all of a sudden this morning the message 'Soot Filter full see manual'. I don't live near a motorway (I live in East Ayrshire). I switched the message off with the button on end of stalk. Tried to get the message back and there was nothing there, does that mean the problem has sorted itself out?

Thanks

Brian

No it doesn't ! It is warning you , it should explain it in the handbook . You must go for a half hour drive at around 50 mph to enable the particle filter to clean itself out of soot .. If you ignore it you will get a message saying ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE required then you need to go to the dealer to get this done manually . If you still ignore it you will find the engine goes into limp home mode and you will need a new particle filter .

Thanks for that. Is there a way (probably a stupid question) of knowing if the regeneration has occurred?

the message goes away .. but it should complete on a 30 min drive at 50 mph , unless there is another problem , Hopefully your engine light is off !
