Hi folks,

I've got an XC60 2.0 D3, and I've just realised the cam belt is over due!! Money is a bit tight so I'm looking at doing it myself.... has anyone done it? Is it a simple job to do? I was a mechanic a long time ago before all these electronics come in so I'm not a novice, but not much experience working on newer cars! Thanks for any help.....

To be honest if you are asking then no you should not attempt it , it could be a very expensive mistake .. .. interval is 90000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first . 👍

I've changed cam belts on cars before, and I know some are easier than others, just wondering if this is an awkward one and if any special tools are needed besides the normal.

I was keen to have a go (V60 D5), but when I priced up Volvo parts and my time versus a decent Indy the difference was hardly worth thinking about.

It's a fair point, I have a really good local guy who is a Volvo specialist quoting me £370 which I think is very reasonable.... just when money is tight I have to think of all options
