Shem carried out a re-map on my V70T5, he really is a font of Volvo knowledge. My car is going back to him for a hard to find ABS fault, timing belt, aux belt and pcv system service. My knackered back prevents me from working on my own car now, I was a time served technician and obviously always looked after my own vehicles.
I personally wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and the service he provides. |

Hi all
Just an update. Lockdown caused a load of issues in getting the car sorted. I got the engine just before lockdown but then lockdown happened. The car was picked up yesterday, as even though the garage has been open for the last 2.5 weeks they had to catch up on everything. The engine swap is occuring and should have some news soon. I spoke to Tim Williams during this time who has been a breath of fresh air! The engine swap is having the obvious cambelt change but I've got an uprated D5 oil cooler and a oil pump from an XC90 T6 going in. Once she is on the road she is going to Tim for the engine shim, intercooler change, ally subframe bush change, TME turbo back exhaust system, Focus RS plugs and Gustav remap. Hopefully I can share some pictures of the progress on this thread if that holds peoples interest. Thanks, Oliver |

Also holding out some hope (not much mind!) that the engine in it is somewhat salvageable.

I will upload a pic with the engine out. The old engine still turns but something is wrong with it. Hopefully as it hasn't seized it is a candidate for a full strip and rebuild.
As I got a replacement engine and turbo from an '04 and my car is an '03 it appears the turbo is different - or the connection anyhow. So I need a matching turbo pipe. Does anyone have one available? Thanks |

Ok the engine is out!
It turns but with resistance so I don't think we'll know more until we pull it apart to decide if it's parts or could be used for a rebuild project. |

Here's the new engine.
The car has 186,000 but this engine came from a 120,000. It's having a new genuine PCV breather system fitted Upgraded braided MAMBA hoses for oil and water lines for the turbo XC90 T6 oil pump upgrade D5 oil cooler upgrade New cambelt, tensioners and waterpump. and we're replacing all seals for driveshafts etc and flushing gearbox and torque converter and other jobs whilst the engine is out and access is easy. |

This has been resolved by swapping the compressor housing. |

Feel like I'm talking to myself but....
As the car is off the ground as the front wheels are off, I got the rear wheels off and got the 18" Pegasus alloys refurbished as they were flaking in places from 17 years of road use and crappy weather. I dropped them off on Saturday and picked them up just a minute ago. Pictures coming, they look great! |

Refurbhished wheels ready to go back on the car. Always thought they were 17" but they're actually 18".
