Default V70 2006 Ocean Race

Hi, anyone enlighten me on how to remove the dashboard mounted satnav from an imported Japanese 2006 V70 ocean race? Obviously it is in Japanese and therefore totally useless for UK use. I have tried to source UK software discs to no avail. It sticks out like a sore thumb and my biggest fear is that some lowlife might think it a great idea to break into the car and steal this useless bit of kit. As I cannot use it I want it out. Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Is it stuck in the up position?
I have factory nav in my car and the screen always goes down into the dash with a small bit showing at the top as per factory.
I doubt anyone will want to steal the nav, more than likely they would nick the car first.

Also the dash piece of these cars is anything but easy to remove - not to mention it will cause various crickets to come alive.

Pop out the speaker grill around it, it’s held by friction tabs, you need to be careful not to deform it or mark the dash. Undo the speaker, then undo the screen. They are just held in by torx head screws.

Thanks Are we talking about the same unit? Mine seems to be permanently upright on top of the dash in front of the windscreen. If it just sank down out of sight I would be happy enough. As it is, it is of no use and it tends to rattle as well!

Is there a button on the top to press and push the unit back down?

Nope. No button on top to press screen down. Will attempt to remove unit as per reggit's suggestion.

Big thank you to reggit. Reread your post. Thought about it then gathered up the nerve to have a go. No damage to leather dash although the screen carrier was so brittle owing to the hot Japanese sun, that it cracked up. Not needed, covered gap left by the screen with some speaker cloth and pushed the panel back in place. Job done!
