City Safe a real PIA (2014 V60)
Has anyone had any experience with this becoming a nuisance?
I've had the barriers at work set it off, and this morning a bush when parking! One day some one will rear end me! I know it can be switched off via a torturous route through the menus but is it possible to set a short cut via the FAV button? What if I stick a bit of tape over the LIDAR transmitter and receiver on the windscreen? Yours frustrated by unnecessary gimmicks. |

never had it go off in 8 years of having a XC60s with it fitted - I actually had to have the dealer test it as thought it wasn't working

Make sure you have the latest software in the system , volvo have been fine tuning it all the time for the last 8 years or so . Certainly not a gimmick , you will find that out one day when it stops you going into the back of someone and your insurance premium is chosen to reflect this . EG if you have a V40 with LED Headlights smashing them alone will cost you £3000 ! Perhaps your your approach speed should be more appropriate and use your brakes less violently :-)

City Safe has never gone off 'by mistake' but it saved me once in a line of slow moving traffic when my concentration lapsed. I'd never switch it off.

Yep no issues with it from me (It's all up to date)
Not 100% sure I've ever had it trigger but I certainly wouldn't switch it off. Wouldn't sticking tape over the sensors cause it to think there's an obstruction & trigger it anyway ?

Don’t rocket up to things that overhang the bonnet and you’ll be fine. Car park barriers at work set it off if I approach too quickly. Have learned to adapt.

Thanks everyone
Previously owned a Leon 2003 130TDI so adjusting to the Volvo and it's various gimmicks will take time I guess. But really to have to crawl up to barriers at less than 2mph is crazy........... |

Try to get a passenger to take on board footage when these things happen and post it on here. That should give us a clearer indication of whether you have a fault or not.

I personally wouldn't want to buy a car without it
its come on once for me, busy roundabout driver in front changed mind after harsh acceleration, thought I'd hit them! Realistically it was my own fault for trying to follow....but I was grateful as I'm sure I would of shunted them. As for it coming on by accident, I've never had it, I've been grateful when in a car being test driven its standard one the newer ones as I had it activate as a someone was test driving the car and thought its more important to figure out all the centre console controls instead of paying attention to the traffic! Collision warning can get annoying I admit, especially in narrow streets with busy towns, I've never had it pop on at a car park barrier mind, not yet anyway, on the other hand I've been a passenger in a car that has almost driven into a barrier before, no damage just didn't see it slammed on the brakes and the barrier was practically touching the windscreen. I also have a 2014 V60 |

I do get the collision warning going off regularly near where I live, people park on both sides of the road and a certain amount of weaving stationary cars is required on the road. I think the car believes I am going to hit one, and warns me! |
