My 2005 MY S60 had emissions of 166g/km which was pretty clean when it was new. I wouldn't consider anything over 100 g/km if I were looking today.
The last 15 years in Europe has pretty much got everyone on the vehicle churn treadmill unless you can make an oldtimer do the work for you.

I think the days of a 27 year old Volvo still doing sterling service have gone.
The car might be up to it but the engine will be banned or made prohibitively expensive to run long before the car expires so then Volvo think why make a car good for 3 decades if it will be off the road after 1 ?

If anyone is reading this and regretting their choice of a polestar v60, let me help you correct that by taking it off your hands for a very reasonable fee.

If you're really lucky I'll offer a direct swap for my diesel V60, parts availability assured well into the future.....

I was actually thinking of the McLaren F1 when I wrote that. Only 2 made and now sell for lots more than they originally cost. About £7 million or so each time they change hands.

I don't have such a pessimistic view myself. I remember the pundits saying we would run out of petrol by the year 2000. Yes the tec will change in the future but cars like the Polestar V60 will still be rolling along because they are so much fun.

I was just reading that Polestar built a 508 bhp 575Nm of torque version of the Polestar S60 as a concept and then were asked to build 5 more by enthusiasts at a cost of $300,000 each!

Brief Technical Overview: Polestar S60 Concept

•Volvo T6 inline six
•0-100 kmh (62 mph) = 3.9 seconds
•Top speed more than 300 kmh (more than 186 mph)
•508 hp @ 6500rpm
•575Nm (424 lb.-feet) @ 5500rpm
•Max rpm: 7100
•Modified cylinder head and combustion chambers
•Modified inlet manifold and air intake
•Garret 3171 turbo
•Ferrita 3.5" stainless steel exhaust system

Yeah people are going on about how expensive they are but they are so much car for the money! the performance alone is worth the price never mind every bit of kit possible coming as standard on the cars!

Rebel Blue is my favourite colour but black is definitely next best. it looks so stealthy!

This is what gets me - so many reviews saying "OMG who pays £50k for a Volvo, when BMW, Audi, Merc etc are significantly cheaper" fail to consider that A) nobody has actually paid £50k for a P* and B) once you tick the equivalent number of boxes on one of the comparable Germans you're looking at well over £50k.

This sort of shoddy journalism initially pushed me away from the P*, and it wasn't until I started making a list of must-have options that it became very clear that it was the thinking man's choice, and significantly cheaper than the CLA45 wagon, 335d GT and 435d GC short-listers.

hey chopper,
What sort of discount are we talking? I am thinking of joining the V60 Polestar club but trying to find the right negotiating price and any tips would be appreciated

Why would you want that kind of performance from a car ? You can get <2.9 seconds 0-62mph and a top speed pushing 200mph for £10k, a super-charger or turbo to dial up the excitement is not going to cost £140k.
200bhp (stock) in 190kgs is going to rip any car with 508hp in 1.5 tonnes to pieces.

Exclusivity I guess?

£100k Tesla family saloon would more than match it. Just blow it away. With electric cars able to turn out that sort of performance already the writing must be on the wall for the combustion engine, except for the die hard enthusiasts I think.

It can get a bit embarrassing when there's no skill involved though. Look at how many times Rowan Atkinson has stuffed a super car. All the gear and no idea is not a good mix.
