Default Water Ingress

Hi everyone, I hope you are all full of festive joy.
A couple of days ago i discovered that the carpets in the front passenger area are sodden. i wonder if anyone has any ideas on where the water may be coming from. I noticed that the outside of the glove compartment was wet but not the inside,if this helps.
The car is a 2009 xc60 2.4e drive diesel 2wd and has about 50k on the clock.

Hope someone can help.
Regards Stan.

Do you have a sunroof?
If yes, you could have a blocked drain.

There should be two drains, one either side at the front of the sunroof?
I think they can be cleared by blowing some air down them.

Push the top of the windscreen outwards , have someone look from outside , any movement of the glass means it will have to come out to be re sealed

Hi If your windscreen is ok and you have a sunroof then check the drains . The glove box outer being wet is a clue to the drain being blocked as the water will have run down the inside of the roof lining and wind screen pillar cover. The front drains are easy to access and block quite easily due to the bend at the bottom of the windscreen where they enter the lower part of the "A" pillar. Retract the sun roof and look under the front wind deflector in the corners . You will see a hole in the upright section or the roof opening approx 6mm diameter. Get some curtain spring if you can find it these days and push down the hole gently twisting it to help it round the bends . Also make sure that there are no sharp bits on the end of the spring. If you cannot get any curtain wire then go to a model shop and buy some model aircraft control snakes . Use the INNER part. You need to get about a meter down the drain to clear it . When you think its down far enough remove and test drain with a syringe . water should drain from the bottom of the door sill just behind the front wheel . I had the same problem with my V70 last winter . If the rear drains are blocked then its a bit more of a problem but try the front first . Hope it helps . Just a tip to dry your carpets . Put a thick wad of newspaper under your removable mats . They soak up a Lot of water . Change every day and you should dry out the fixed carpet with no mold or smells .

Check up in the passenger side footwell, there is some foam on the bulkhead is this dry or damp/soaked too?

Do you park nose up at work/home?

It could be the classic windscreen bonding going.
