The manual is always worth a read as there can be some things which you would never find out just by playing with the controls. This includes setting the wipers to service mode so they are at the end of their sweep so easier to change the blades, and the dipping of the door mirrors when engaging reverse (2008 XC70).

Also found out (by chance) that emergency braking at 70mph flashes the hazard lights.

I believe that hard braking from high speed will cause the brake lights to flash initially, until the car is stopped/nearly at a stop and then the hazard warning lights are activated.

I've found that hard braking from 70 also triggers an audible warning from the passenger side, variable in tone but it's not mentioned in the manual, sounds like "what the...? Weren't you looking?" or variations on the same theme. Any suggestions about turning it off?

Perhaps the saying of "if it moves and it shouldn't, duck tape and cable ties - if it doesn't move and it should, wd40" may help you here. I'm pretty sure some duck tape over the source of the noise will reduce it's volume considerably!

Discovered that the middle rear seat headreset is adjustable in my P1 S60.

Always assumed all Volvo headresets were fixed, but seems the middle one can be raised and lowered.

Always worth chucking in there for those who don't know, if you have a Volvo with an electric handbrake you can use it to help with an emergency stop from speed. If you press it as speed it does release again but it will stop the car dead below a few mph

Yes, don't place anything on the rear 'parcel shelf' of a Mk.2 C70 ...as it moves as part of the roof mechanism

2 from me

1) pushing the L or R mirror button on engaging reverse dips the mirror so you can see the Curb - Picked that one up from hear.

2) If stuck in the dessert without water the XC60 washer bottle is large enough to support the population of a small town for several days. Jeez how long does it take to refill.

Not new out but reminded...how good a good Volvo 744 is...in absolute terms, not just because it's 31.5 years old.

Is that a custard or blancmange dessert, or a desert like the local Tesco :-) ?
